People are changing over age...

I was shocked by watching different ads that are very offensive about girls that shows on t.v., media and everywhere but this is very bad for younger kids and made them to do bad things. Like we saw movie this week about teens masculinity since they are kids they learn or shape by this kind of stuff. Try to look different from other people like their clothes, their behaviour, how they talk to others. This all thing going to change kids mind and think bad about different things. When they are in six or seventh grade they want to look like a gang member or they wear clothes like that. Want to show off their masculinity and how they look. When I was watching movie today it was very critical to watch how everything is changing around media and t.v. ads. It is very about girls that use in every different ads and make their body pictures and show us about their how their body shape. Everyone one thinks about girls need to be thin, tall, and beautiful. But sometimes its not true it effects on teens girls and Try to wear and do new things what they see on t.v. they want to try it or do it. Media I guess mostly focus on Women. When you make something about women and try to show that on media it make teens and younger people influence very badly. When they talk about women first thing comes to our mind is about how should women be shaped. Also, looking for perfect life their body and their shape. But the main thing is just to be a safe make all ads and media to not show offensive pictures about women. The huge impact that the media has today on women is extremely negative and damaging to their self-esteem and body image. Every commercial and infomercial on t.v., in magazines, on billboards, on pop-up computer ads, and more are telling women how they should change their bodies and what they can use to do so. I think women does not have to change anything how they are right now they are fine. Nothing has to be change like they show to us on movie today.

Different Agents of Socialization

Few weeks ago we learn about different agents of socialization how they effect on us by different group. I think is if you are following some group of agents you have different part of following it. By this we learn about significant role of us. For me most important agents of socialization is Family. I had a greatest impact form my family. Family is very significant because we all learn our own culture, values, how to talk with other people, respect, different skills of way to live a life. I think this is one of the important thing for me because when I was in third grade, my parents always take me to the temple where other people like teachers teach about our culture, pray to God, who we are, what should we have to do to make our life more easier. This something we have to learn from our own family. If we have family we can do anything like if we are in trouble or problem we can ask them for help or they are only one close to us that help us out. When we saw that seven things good parents do that kids screw up. But this is not true we have to learn some of them so we can be in good track for our life. My next significant agents of socialization is Religion. Without religion I can not live my life proparly because if you have your own religion you can learn or get something out of it like when I came to USA, out Temple was just built so they have lot of different program we can do like dance, learn about Hinduism and lot of other things that we can not learn from our family or someone us. So, after few time I started my own classes in Temple to teach little kids about what is our culture and how to write our native language. It is kind of very nice because through out my life I always think about doing something good that people can remember me.
My last most important agents of socialization is School. When ever I think about school first thing came up on my mind is Friends, and Teachers. I like to go to school because we learn something out of school. When I was in tenth grade in India when we take Tenth grade exam it is very important for us to decide what we have to do on 11 and 12th grade. I got first number in my native language. I got 86/100 its like 99/100 here. It is very hard to get this score. I am proud of my teachers and my father who tought me this. So, school is kind of very vital for us when we are learning something.

Like Last sunday we did the activity called UN-TV it was very crazy for me because when we have to watch program for like 10-15 minutes it have to look up for how many time they change visual thing like photos, background, sound, etc. This is make me tired because we have to count very quickly. Also, we I was watching Indian program with out turn on noise it was very hard for me to understand and what is going on there. This is kind a different activity then others. Also, when we see the little kids about consumer like different advertising and what they watch on TV that is kind of Rickey for kinds when we saw to them. But kids does not understand that advertising it and buy what ever they. But after they grown up they will understand what is that mean. When I was kid, when I see some good advertising in TV, I got so excited and what to buy that item or want to know about what it is. Sometime addvertising effect the children on their mind and they thought about it for long time. Like if they saw bad advertising it create their mind to do it.

Just Do Nothing............

Last week, when we have to do assignment Nothing. I went to Jewel-Osco for this. I was standing around the cash counter. When I was standing there lot of people going around me and suddenly one lady come to me ask me questions that do you need any help? What are you doing? I just said I am not doing anything. After 10 minutes, I was thinking that it is hard to make your mind to do nothing. But anyways, when I was thinking as a sociology, I think this activity it to make up our mind to think for nothing about anything. I think is very hard to concentration or focus on do nothing. I think this was my first time to do like this. It was kind a fun to do this. When we go to Temple or some social place they every time told us to do nothing like talk or anything that disturb them.

Also, when we are thinking about Happiness in our life by different things we can do. Like when we reading Arti
cleThrive it was very interesting to read about how people or things can change your life and happiness. When we think about different relation ship with people like at work, school, and how do you interact with them and how do you get happy from them. How do you talk to them and what they think about you.
People are happiest when they spend their time and money on experiences, as opposed to objects. I advises taking up an interest in sports or the arts, which will provide longer-term satisfaction than any one purchase. Different country people thought different things and way to think about happiness. When
I go to temple, I always sit in front of the God and think about what is going around with me and what should I do to make my life more happy. When I think about happiness, I always pray to God for my future and make my life smooth. Life is very complicated. Happiness A variety of biological, religious and philosophical approaches have striven to define happiness and identify its sources. is a mental state of well-being characterized by positive emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy.

Fear of Death

This week when we talk about Article Bemused in America they talk about super market that open 24 hours, also about joggers who run in early morning around 5 a.m. The American culture is so different then my culture because they have different rules, their way to follow their own religious. When in India the supermarket does not open 24 hours and they close certain time and open certain time. Also. very few joggers in India because of the lot of pollution and dust around. America is better place for me to live because here I feel more comfortable with environment. However, different places and different countries have their own rules and way to follow their rules.

When we watch movie about Tuesday with Morrie that was very wonderful movie I ever watch about Death is not fear to him but he is very happy to everyone that show us that he is not fear about death. When everybody talk about death we got fear about that. But Morrie was the person who was not fear about death. Also, in life someday people must have to die one day so we don't have to worry about death. Morrie was suffering from disease. He does not care what other people think and he is not afraid to think outside around him Throughout the movie, there are parts where he loses breath, cries, or can barely speak. It breaks Mitch's heart and more so everyone he is become close to. People does not care about death because death rate is going very high and it becomes normal for some people. Also, when I think about death I think is very obvious for me because when I was fifteen my uncle got colon cancer when he was in India. He was my mother's brother and he came to USA with us and he got some therapy and he live for 2 years and he was dead in India. I was very close to him and that day I feel live is like a game. He did not have any disease or anything and suddenly he got cancer. So, this show me that anything can happen any time. Also, when you are near to anyone you feel bad for them but after they died you feel death is just usual.

Different Subcultures and Our Role.

when ever we think about culture or subculture means you are part of something that we are following through our live. It is very important to us when we are part of something like my subculture is Hindu. But in Hindu there is lot of different parts, in different place they celebrate their own way in India. There are like 33 millions of God in India. All are part of Hindu. So, people believe on their own and follow their culture how they taught. In USA, I am part of volunteer at temple, teach kids, work in subway, we have our own cricket team. So, for different part we all have different roles and how we follow them. Within every culture there are subcultures that have specific aspects that makes them stand apart from all of the others. Our school has certain traits that make it different from other schools and make it a good place that other schools look up to and want to visit. Lot of people visit our school because they have something unique. Also, in our school there lot of material culture like different language, taboos, and when I go to temple try to help kids to learn something about Hindu or different Indian culture. Hinduism is very big subculture.

Different cultures have different norms like when we see video about Indian traffic and how people cross streets. It is very tough in India to drive and cross roads. I lived in India for 15 years and I know all this things and how this works. It is kind a hard to follow what we see but it work out well. For,all different cultures or countries they have everything different from India and they used to follow their own and try to fit on here. Because when I was in India, we do not have rules like here and so fun at school and back to going home. When you talk about India it very critical to cross roads because they have everything on one way not like people who are walking they have different road for them to walk. This is kind a better than India. It occur less accidents.

Differences of Cultures

Culture is art of living. Languages and cultures are most important thing in our life. With out culture or language we can not communicate or talk to different people. When we think about culture but what is culture? Culture is thing that connects different people and try to understand their beliefs and their own languages. Different cultures have different languages and that allows us to communicate with people. When we think about culture or language that shows us that how we are doing in our own society, our thinking, beliefs, about our culture. I am Hindu and in my culture we have lot of languages. In India, their many different cultures and they have their own languages but it very difficult to understand them. I can speak four languages: Gujarati, Hindi, Sanskrit, Bhojpuri. When we are talking about different toilets in different countries but when you see the Indian toilet it is very different from America. It is kind of like Japan. But we don't use toilet paper instead of paper we use water. That is perfectly fine. When I was coming to USA, I use to used water in toilet it was very hard to use toilet paper for me. It feels very awkward. Also, from Indian culture to American culture is very different in different ways. Most important thing is language. It is very hard for me to speak English when I came here and hard to communicate with different people. Also, in American culture we always say sorry, thank you, please, etc. I did not used to say those words in India. These is more polite and respect to others.

Today what we learn in class, I would say it was very difficult when you talk about different non material cultures and connect to different people. Non-material culture is symbolic culture, or gestures and language.Gestures are so different in different countries. Like in American OK sign means different in India. That is kind of inappropriate mean. Sometimes it crates a big problems between people like when we go to restaurant we call waiter a different ways like in India we call him or shout him or make kind a noise. So, basically understanding of different culture is connected with their own languages. Finally, I would say it is not easy to follow some different culture or connect with different people.
Thank You.

Way to learn different things from Others.

We watch a movie A Bronx Tale it was great movie ever I watched in my Life. I learn lot of things from this movie was that how we raised up withing different groups and learn different things from them just like C did in movie. When he was young he used to hang out with his friends, everyday go with his father in bus, school etc. But where he was living there were lot of crime happen around him and he used to watch this crimes. He met a mobster Sonny and Sonny influence him a lot and taught him lot of good things. C learn lot of things from Sonny, his friends, and parents. This shows us that this is related to generalization like how you raised around gang members? You grown up like that, you do that stuff what you see or happen around you. One day when C's friends died that day he learn a good lesson from them and he try to listen his parents after Sonny got died. As we thinking about C, I will tell you that in India I used to grown up in good Neighbour hood and well educated people live around my house. So, people generalized that I am going to a good guy or like that. But it does not happen all the time. You may be got bad influence by others outside then around your neighbors. There also problem about race like when C goes to black neighbour hood they tried to get out of him from there. But we can not judge people by their race or their community. We have to treat all people same us others.

Also, I was reading about article A Gang Leader for a Day, it was very nice to read and learn about Sudhir Venkatesh's story like how he interact with black people and ask about their black culture and how they feel about it. When he went to the black apartment it was very risky to learn about their culture and what they might do? Because we don't know them and it might got any problem. Also, they all are gang members and hard to interact with them in one day. We might have to join them for few days see what they were doing and try to learn their culture, their views about different things. He was to hang out with that gang members and try to learn about them from being with them. Also, it was very hard to find a something about groups or people. However, when I was in India I have to go to different people house to take surveys it was very hard, and weird because I was taking survey about giving people samples about different food and convince them to buy. Also, ask them for how it is taste and what can I change to make it better. So, this is kind of hard to find somethings when we do something new. It is not easy to achieve or get something.

Significant roles of life

I was kind of excited when Sal was saying to sit in circle and something to do about groups. I like what we did in class that he told to write about different groups we fit in like friend, family, school, religious, etc. I love to do that because we are doing kind of same thing in English like different roles of us in different groups. We did the same thing first we write down the different groups. After, we wrote what's our role in particular group? When everybody is finish, Sal ask students different questions about important about our groups. Like why do we pick family as a major groups. who we are and explain to class. It was very nice conversation and I learned a lot from other students like how they chose their role and why? Also, some pick family, some friends, school, religion, etc. So, this is very interesting to me that how people are connected to different people in their life. This is one way to get to know each other, learn something new and think about what should be our next step to do something good about our self. For me, I choose family because they had been supported through my life, make good decisions, try to teach me a good lessons about life and they struggle for me. I would say family is most important for me and I think everybody us too. First time I came to USA 2 years ago it was very hard for me to communicate with different people, hard to make friends, try to learn more English, get to know each other etc. I go to temple mostly every Sunday and teach American born Indian kids about what is Indian culture and teach them out native language. How to write and read. This is very good experience ever I had.

Second most important thing was that we divided into two different groups in class today was Black vs. colorful. We have to write about why they other groups were colorful clothes. People from my groups came up with good ideas like weather, fashion, they woke up early, etc. But from the different group they were being rude to us means we wear black because we are down in life, we look Skinner, devil and some quoted like that show us how they thing about ours. we learn something about In-out groups. Students always think different about opposite groups was kind of harmful. Also, I would say about I think does not matter what you wear because sometimes people think about their race, ethnicity, and thinking. However, I don't like that to separate from other people. Easy to forgot things but nothing is hard to remember. some people even does not care just seat there and do nothing. But from this is very bad that people does not do well in this activity.

Thank you.

Blizard Ruined Chicago

First of all, I would say about F-227 this is great story that I read. I would not eat the people just because try to survive in difficult situation. Sometimes, I thought how would you eat a person or animal(meat)? In my whole life I never ever had chicken, meat, or even eggs. Because if you think about it if you kill animal and eat their meat, that is so disgusting to me. I think they should use any other way to survive. This is against my culture, and my views to eat dead body of person. One time, in India, I was stuck on the traffic for 3 days just because of lot of rain like here is snow. We were going to religious place, and on our way there was lot of rain and all Lake water came to the ground so, water was everywhere on the road. we stuck there for 3 days we could not move or talk to someone because of heavy rain. Cellphone does not work but still we survive through. Like we seat on the car, we just drink, some snacks. Anyways, let think about spit. Like when we did activity like Sal pick one volunteer to spit on the spoon, and after few minutes he said swallow it back but it was gross. In class, everybody thought spitting is gross but I think that's not when Sal was giving examples. That means we just thought different kind of thinking on different situation. Just like baseball player, and even in my country people play cricket, and they spit a lot nobody cares so much like here. So, from this I would said in different country or region people think different about spitting.

Let me tell you, I never ever thought that Stevenson give 2 snow days this is very amazing. I been here in USA for 2 years, and I was shocked by this 20 inch snow. After school on Tuesday, I went to home and I went to subway for work. Everything went well but when I was coming back I got stuck in parking lot because lot of snow under my car. I try to get out of it but it does not work well. After, I call police to help him he came but it doesn't work out well. I was angry, and put my car there and I call my cousin to pick me up. I put my car there for 2 days and got my car yesterday. It was crazy experience for me. Even though, my cousin was coming back from job in Wednesday morning in snow he got stuck on road, he call me for help, and I went outside and snow was higher than my thighs. Also, in the afternoon, my all neighbors came outside. and we all shovel the snow together. We enjoy to work out together. This is kind of get to know each other, try to help someone and communicate. But this snow I will never forgot. This is very crazy days for me. But everything went well and I would say nothing is hard to survive but nothing is easy to get.

Thank You.

Social Imagination and Mindfulness

Social imagination that allows us to understand and predict other people behavior, like how they talk, make sense of abstract ideas, and to imagine situation outside our immediately daily routine. I would say this is matter on where people are from and how they live, their lifestyle, thinking, ideas, etc. It all depends on social imagination. In class, story of Gladwell writes that Stewart Wolf discovered that for men over 65, the death rate from heart disease in Roseto was roughly half that of the United States as a whole. The people in this society were healthier not because of their diet or location, but because of where they lived and who they were living with. The close-knit community in this town established strong, human bonds. It shows how these people were the sum of their communities, rather than their own individual actions and decisions. So from this i would say social imagination depends on how people live, where they from, relationship with others. when wolf was researching the people who lived in Roseto, Wolf was able to find statistical data on the claim that this society was healthier because it functioned more as a group-oriented society and less of an individual-oriented society. lot of things going around in school, outside of school, at job,and it is hard to communicate to people around as it is really hard when they all from different countries and way they live life. it is hard when all people around as are different then we talked. When having a sociological imagination, you are able to analyze situations and people more carefully. You can become more wise and learn that not every one is like you.

Social Mindfulness- For social mindfulness, seems to convey that people act a different way with each other based on where they were born, and what time period they grew up in. The mindfulness of it all is to understand that everything is linked and to be aware that not only do one's surroundings affect the person but the person has an effect on everyone, everything around them
. I would say how people think about world as a whole because when i am thinking about that how can people live without some sociology like they have to think certain things like interact with certain groups. Their different roles in life. Also, I think about future that what should be happen in future. Like, right now we are suffering lot of problems around us. We see how people react with others but when we think about mindfulness or sociology we might get good solution. With my life, since I was in 1st grade I used to interact with people that are different then me or different on their thinking and how they live. I born in India but I want to connect to or see different people from different area or time period , and I want to talk with them. My parents always told me to do somethings different for life. Sometimes they said,"If you involve more with others, that way you learn somethings from other that around world." I want my life to be great for my parents because they are the only one who supported me during my life in every problems. humans can change society by their thinking, how they involve with other people, their thoughts, etc. i am thinking about world is going to change in few years because we heard lot of different problems around world going on.

Thank You.

Silence is friend of God

Today, I found something new in Sal class is we start class with silence. He came and said let's get started and he sit on corner of the class. Also, he did not say anything and whole class was looking at him to say something, because from 1st grade we learn that teacher always in front of the class and we listen them what they said. But for Sal class i was feel very awkward and thinking about he say something. Some classmates said "what's up" and start introduce them self but still there was silent, i feel very awkward that time. The one quote by Mother Teressa, “We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature - trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence... We need silence to be able to touch souls.” This is very truth that nature like trees, flowers , grows in silence. But this is not awkward because this is true, when we are in class in Sal was sitting in the back of the room and whole class in silent that was very awkward. Everyone in the class basically just looked around and didn't know what to do. It was almost as if the other kids were talking all at once but nothing was being said. If you could hear what they were all thinking it would have been extremely loud and would drown out the silence. I had the same experience in India when i was in school and teacher came to class and did not say anything for whole class period, i thought this is very awkward when teacher didn't say anything first day of the school. Also, after few minutes he said take out the books and read from it. So, i thought why do we do that? That was very awkward that what can we do? It was the first day of the class. I thought that is the same thing happen in Sal class. So from this class we learn something new because from the beginning of the school we learn come to class on time, listen the teachers instruction, do homework on time in like that. Something that similar happened to me in the class like this silence.

Thank you.

Purpose and meaning of life

Who am I? This is very good question that we thought we can answer by our self but this is hard to find about our self that who we are? I would say overall i m good person, very friendly, good student, always positive, thinking good always, try to help someone in bad situation or in trouble. I am senior in high school, and I want to be engineer. I am new in USA because I just came here 2 years ago from India. I finish my 10th grade in India, and I got an award in my native language; I got first number in whole state. I had very hard time learning English and try to understand American people like how they talk to other people. However, last year I got an award in school about best effort in English. I had encourage by lot of people in school, and they taught me lot of good things.I came to USA for my bright future and want to get good job to get more money. Therefore, I live with my parents and my uncle-aunt in USA.
Biggest influence in my life is from my parents that i have to work hard in USA because they live here for me. Also, they have lot of hopes for me that i will work hard, and get a good job after college. They always thought me good things what should i do? That makes me more influence in my life that i have to work hard no matter what. In addition, my school teachers influence me lot by like never ever give up. Always, try something to do something new. they have lot of high expectation about me.
My goals are getting in good college, get good job, try to help my parents, and become a good engineer. My goals for future are getting new home, business, and some money spending in charity. Goals is not like what you think that what we are going to do, but we have to work hard to achieve that goals. Purpose of my life is that try to be a good to everyone, help people in any situation, learn something new about different people, culture and world. Also, live a good life that does not mean you live a good life but try to help someone, be friendly, honest, and respectful to other people and that people talk about you after you died. That means you had a good life and you purpose are becoming successful. Another purpose of my life is praying to God, obey my parents, listen all people when they give a advice. So, overall i would say do something that makes your life smooth, easy, and successful.
Thank You.
